Causes Of Bronchitis

Bronchitis occurs most often during cold and flu season, usually associated with upper respiratory tract infection.

Several viruses cause bronchitis, including influenza A and B, commonly called "flu."

A number of bacteria are also known to cause bronchitis, such as Mycoplasma pneumoniae, which causes the so-called "walking pneumonia".

Bronchitis can occur even when the person to breathe irritating fumes or dust. Chemical solvents and smoke, like cigarette smoke, is associated with acute bronchitis.

People at greatest risk of bronchitis at the same time and have more severe symptoms are the elderly, with a weakened immune system, smokers and anyone with repeated exposure to lung irritants.
